OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORTS AND VOLUNTEERSIt takes much more than just the sale of trail passes to fund and operate this organization. This GASClub runs on the hard work of volunteers, including your executive committee. This year has started as a banner year with the support of several members helping out with various things that need taken care of. Just to give you an idea of what they are out doing: Brush Cutting: The wild vegitation on our trails can pose a safety concern for the trail users. There is a constant requirement for brush cutting and keeping the vegitation growth down along the trail. This year we have been blessed with several supporters taking time out of there weekend to take care of some areas of major concern for limited visability. When walking or passing by, as a member please extend your thanks to Kevin Dickey, Kieley Burry, Steve Elms, Bruce Terris for their efforts with the brush cutting. Here are some pictures of their day out on the trails:
WARMING SHELTERS: I have received emails from Doug Granter letting me know that the Butt's Pond warming shelter has been repaired and painted, cleaned and ready to go for the season. In addition, an out house has been placed their for your use. Tony Foote is taking care of the repairs and required housecleaning for the shelter at Joe Batt's. These shelters are for your use and comfort when out on the trails. We have experience problems with theft of equipment, ie: solar lights, wood stove pipe, garabage pails, shovels, brooms and believe it or not even the toilet paper. We do our best to ensure that the are inspected and kept up to snuff, but please help us to take care of them. If you are aware of someone causing damage, let us know, let them know. If there is something that needs to be repaired, send us an email so we can get things taken care of. They are their for you to use, if we all take a little interest and concern, we can all keep an eye on them. WASHOUTS: Platinum Builders have repaired the wash out on the trail by Butt's Pond. There are some other areas of the trail that require repair and they are being looked at now in order to get them completed prior to the season start. |
